Integration Architecture
Every integration feature is designed for real-world operations — where files get re-imported, systems use different names for the same building, and credentials need to be locked down.
Idempotent Sync
Every sync is an upsert keyed on external identity (HR employee ID, facility ID, punch timestamp). Re-running a sync never creates duplicates — changed fields update in place, missing records are flagged with a reason, never silently dropped.
Facility Cross-Mapping
External systems use different names for the same buildings. Horizon's facility source mapping engine maintains per-source aliases and resolves them to your canonical facility list. Unmapped buildings are surfaced for admin review.
Payer Source Resolution
Raw payer strings from NetHealth and other therapy systems are automatically classified into billing categories (Medicare A/B, Managed Care, Private Pay) and matched to canonical managed care company records.
Time Entry Ingestion
Actual worked hours (clock-in, clock-out, regular hours, overtime hours) are ingested from your timekeeping system. These feed the executive financial analytics dashboard and enable schedule-vs-actual variance analysis.
Staff Roster Sync
Bulk ingest employees with full metadata — discipline, certification, employee type, hourly rate, facility assignments, and external HR IDs. Staff records upsert by external source + ID, so terminated employees can be deactivated without breaking history.
Encrypted Secret Storage
Integration credentials (API keys, OAuth tokens, connection strings) are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM before storage. Secrets are never returned to the browser once configured — only a boolean indicating whether a secret is set.

Building a custom connector? The integration API uses scoped API keys, tenant-aware routing, and real-time sync tracking.
Scoped API Keys
Integration connectors authenticate with long-lived API keys scoped to specific operations. Keys are stored as SHA-256 digests — the raw key is shown once at creation and never stored.
Tenant Gateway Routing
Third-party integrators hit a single shared gateway endpoint. The X-Tenant-ID header routes each request to the correct tenant's isolated core-api instance — no customer data crosses tenant boundaries.
Sync Status Tracking
Every integration config tracks its last sync timestamp, status (never_run, success, error), and the full error message if a sync fails — visible in the Settings panel for ops teams.
